For those that don't know, that is a means of altering the rim, sometimes ever so slightly. This is usually done post-minting by some to improve the appearance of their coin, but these usually have a particular appearance. The Royal Mint however were known to perform such "services" in the 19th and early 20th centuries on coins before the coins ever left the premises, and was usually very subtley accomplished; well, the TPGs seem to be blissfully unaware of this and pass down grades or non-grades accordingly.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
