I can't believe they graded that coin BN, in your closer pics, looks more RB. Atleast I got the grade right though.
I have another couple coming up I guarantee you will get the colors wrong. Part of it is that pictures (mine anyway) emphasize the red.
Yeah, it's quite an eye opener when you show the full-slab shots and the coin looks BN, yet the photos suggests RB. Ya' got me on this one, that's for sure!
Don't pay any attention to the coin color for NGC slabs. In this case though, my coin pictures are actually pretty close.
I hear what you're saying, and I think I understand -- but I use the color of the insert to gauge the color of the coin. The close up shots provide no reference point for exposure (i.e. BN vs RB) because the slab is blown out. Said a bit differently, the first photo said to me RB, but as soon as I saw the slab shot, I knew I blew it.
And some coins given the RB status actually started out RB in the slab , but gradually lost the red and turned into BN , that's why the tpgs won't gaurantee them anymore . Rusty
I got the color wrong, which what gets me most of the time. But the thing that matters most, I got the grade right and I'm learning. I like the coins that are tricky like that, more tricky coins = more learning.
