Guess the grade #11

I think NGC was a bit optimistic here and my pictures make it worse than it really is. In hand it has great luster which is probably why they gave it a 66.

I am shocked with this coin being a MS66. You really think the coin, with as many marks as it has, just with good luster, got it a MS66? I knew you wouldn't, but seeing what NGC would say now might be interesting.

 

66? huh...seems high to me too and if you look at the poll almost all of us seem to think less of the coin.

 

If by marks you only mean bag marks and the like, yes it could be a 66. It is the darker stuff that more gets in the way for me. I would call it a 65 personally, but I cannot state the those darker spots were there when they graded it either.

 

By marks I mean what makes the coin a MS63 in my opinion.
I'm just not seeing MS66, or MS65 on this coin. Maybe a generous MS64.
I can agree that the darker spots could've recently appeared, although I even think that is unlikely. NGC messed up.

 

Yeah,,, tpg variability in this one = a zinger..... I smelled it and have seen it many times. When it comes time to sell, put it on ebay with a fuzzy picture of the reverse ; )
I really like these in the grading competitions,, keeps guys like Duke, Leadfoot, etc.. from scoring too high.. lol.
