This is on eBay. It caught my eye, though I probably won't (can't) buy it. Any guesses? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/292720503873 I'll guess at some point. Still thinking about it. .
I guess I think it's genuine, but that the seller will leave money on the table by not sending it to slab city before throwing it in an eBay auction. I'm not real solid on a grade anyway.... $340.
The seller doesn't accept returns, which could hurt the final price. I would want to be able to verify it was legit before I would bid on it.
I was looking for a 20c piece the other day, I saw this and didn't like the obverse surface. I passed on this, and purchased a certified 1875-S. I even got the 8% eBay bonus bucks.
Even if the seller does not accept returns, you can still send it back if it is not as described (or counterfeit).
I think the argument might be mute if it is two months after the sale ends waiting for it to get back from a TPG. I can tell 98% of the counterfeits, but I have some that step up good dealers.
Both C's are there, one on either side of the arrow fletchings. Obv surfaces are a little rough but I think it is real.
Probably will go for a slabed price anyway...what's the point? Why take chances on questionable coins worth big money? Some bidders are just too trusting or anxious to win. Let's see the final bid...other comps for sale for $300-$600 in a PCGS slab.
