Just two more fine examples of why you should avoid slabbed coins. Buy a high grade coin, not a piece of plastic with a high grade label.
Thanks Tallpaul000 for your explanation of this coin. I don't like slabbed coins nor the grading service game. Mostly because there is no explanation of standard when a grade is given. Example: If a coin is graded MS65, what is there about the coin that keeps it from grading MS66. If there is a true measurable grading standard then this question should be definable "and given". Otherwise, opinion, personal preference, and a host other factors could influence a grade result. Right? My first impression was that the coin had to many distracting hits to make MS65 even though mint luster is quite good. I figured they should give a 63-64 but figured it would be higher. I was not surprised to see members grading in low 60's.
I kindof disagree with that---it is true that such coins slabbed by ANI and such should be avioded by new collectors but coins graded by NGC, PCGS, ANACS, and ICG can be trusted and there is no reason why those should be avoided like ANI. And I'll also say that when a person can grade then I see no reason why they shouldn't look at ANI coins....even a broken clock is right twice a day... Speedy
I agree with Speedy. I like to use top TPGs for authentication, but I will look at lower end grading services for graded coins if I can look at the coin and maybe find a deal by using my own grading knowledge.
Decent detail, does look cleaned though. I would guess they gave it an MS67 grade going by how they graded your Morgan.:stooge:
