IMHO the mark across the ear is technically called a "reed mark."  This characteristic is caused when a bit of the REEDED EDGE from another coin comes into contact with another coin's surface. Anyway, please somebody help me here!  What's a "hook mark" and how are they caused?[/QUOTE]
