Haja i was debating starting a whole new thread on it...... cherry pick of the year!!!! Tough coin to image!! Remember that part where i said this was on my list? They should just rename Ohio > Vam Country......
Wheres my Trophy???? No, i didnt.... Its Brian Raines coin & I told him id advertise/show it off on CT (as part of our deal) otherwise i had to twist his arm to get the OP coin, he claims it was the discovery coin for the LDS vam 3a (not really sure if it was or not) but i REALLY wanted it Sidenote: Maybe i can get one of those fancy Messy Desk Discovery stickers
I know, he da man...... (not that i dont believe him, the coin wasnt labeled and he probably has a hard time keeping track of all that stuff) I love it when he attends our monthly show as he has EXACTLY the type of material im looking for. There ya go Mr Raines, you threw me a bone yesterday and i appreciate it!!
True dat, i just need to get over my fear of sending my prescious beloved examples cross country and in & out of sticky handed postal workers hands of glue
Man, I go offline for a couple of hours and return to this! edit to add - my wish list is at opposite end of my current avatar - a VAM-1C3.
65 vam 1-B 64+ RB...What is the blob on the N in cent?...It lines up with the Y in liberty...Is it a clash?
Not a Vam 1b although i have been searching for 4 years for one.... I guess i search '87Ps almost as frequently as @Dave Waterstraat hunts '83o The IHC i believe is just longacre doubling, i cant find a single website that gives you a snow attribution guide (i dont have the book either so you could be right about it being a clashed Y) Hint: to find a Vam 1b look for a die crack thru the middle of the date as a starting point,
Yeah. Get over that. I've never had a package go missing. Ever. Although it does happen it's rare despite all the horror stories condensed in these forums
Did more vam hunting...agree 1887 is vam 3-A...doubling on 1&7, can,t make out clash, but die marker below "in god" is clear. Nice coin! MS 64 or btr.
After review- THE WINNER IS>>>> @ldhair !!!! Whom nailed both grades AND snow attribution (ill hafta take your word 4 it) #2 WINNER is>>>> @Dave Waterstraat hit a .1000 batting average nailed both grades! Most of you guys either hit 1 grade & vam or were really close. Shanks 4 playin !! This thread brought to you by Miller High Life Go down one, and enjoy the high!!! Also by: Brian Raines rare coinage- Where his Morgan Dollars ALWAYS reign supreme (See what i did there?) Man i really gotta start getting commission for this stuff ( oh wait i did ) muaahaaaaaha
The last image makes me think I'm wrong. S-28 was my best guess from the first images. Can you see any repunching on the date?
Hey @heavycam.monstervam, those are some nice pictures. I'll bet you can get us a nice sharp closeup of that Y in Liberty, showing a little of the adjacent area, too. It's a no-brainer grease ball if we don't use brains. Let's give it the third degree. I think it looks a little funny in the picture.
