To those who are seeing an Au specimen....lay off the grading juice ! Theres not a pin head of a rub on this coin....no rubs,scrapes...etc...its MS.gem
You're probably right, but I (right or wrong) always follow my gut. Second look and I'm thinkin' uncirculated.............but my first observation stands.......
At least MS65FH. No wear on the usual points - hair, emblem on shied, knee, leading edge of right wing. Beautiful coin!
MS68+ FH (Strong Strike) is an easy $4500 coin without CAC and about $6000 to $8000 with CAC! IMHO The detail on this coin is amazing! With possible Die Clash. Looks like tail feathers from a different coin! Probably from a rotated 1915 Coin...
I'm going MS-66 FH and it deserves a CAC green bean. There are only a couple of little things holding it back from 67. The 1917 Type 1s are notorious for being well-struck but this one is particularly nice for the genre. Great coin.
I'm in the 65FH maybe 66FH camp. I see one small tick on the obverse and what I call a scuff on the reverse. So hard to judge luster but I bet its dripping.
