I’m on board with you. I see ware and scratches but I read others I kinda get it. Still want to see a reverse of a like coin to teach me a lesson
Bowers & Merena were great folks to deal with. I bought over a hundred raw coins from them back in the day. Over the years, I have had most of the coins graded. Almost every coin came back at a higher grade than they were auctioned at.
I agree as I said its possible the OP's coin could straight grade as it did. However, I'm not so sure about calling it MS62. However, a lot of coins look better in hand then as shown in pictures.
I must agree some of my favorite coins came from Bowers & Merena. Never was disapointed. Great people to work with.
Just for fun I'm going to post a 1865 mint state seated dollar. This seated dollar is certified as mint state but what do you think it grades.
