I don't collect Ike's, but this one was part of a package deal to get the toned Morgan I wanted. Out of curiosity, what do you guys think this one would grade. It's raw, still in the Blue Pack wrapping and is why there is glare on part of it. I just couldn't get it to where no glare would show up. There is a slight yellow color on the coin. Would it be worthwhile to send in for grading? Thanks.
This looks 67+ to me. The reverse at 9 o'clock is what brings it down a little. I've been collecting Ike's for a few months so let's call in the Veterans to get their opinions. @Ike Skywalker @MontCollector @19Lyds @mikenoodle
Thanks, everyone that posted, for checking this coin out. I didn't know what grade was the cut off point, from having it graded, as it wouldn't be worth it. So, it's only worth melt?
I'm at MS 66 as well. There are A LOT of 1974 S 40% Ikes in the 66 67 range. Not worth sending in imo.
It's a great coin, still sealed from the Mint, I'd say it has to be worth at least 10-12 bucks maybe. I paid something like that recently for my Type set.
I think 66 as well. Here's something that you have to take into account. A coin is not judged against all other Ikes, but it is judged against other coins of the same date and Mint mark. Many of these blue Ikes are very clean with minimal contact marks. This coin is no exception. It has very minimal contact marks, but it isn't spectacular. Likely it is not the best of this date and grades just above gem.
