I agree with this. 62 is probably my favorite grade bc for a single hit or so I can get "65's" for half the price look
Hey @Guy Ferguson GTG means Guess the grade. That means that the coin has been graded by a major certification company such as PCGS, ANACS, or NGC.
Designations (PL, DMPL) don't cost extra from the graders; it's something that is part of the grading process. Less common varieties and mint errors are something that do require an extra fee. Based on the photo, my best guess is that the reverse isn't PL, so the coin (correctly) did not get the designation. If it went to NGC, there would be a chance for a star if the obverse is PL. And if the coin looks like the photo in hand, then there can be an argument that it is undergraded at 64. However, TruViews tend to show the most optimistic view of a coin. So in hand, one might see more hits/bag marks and that would explain the given grade.
For imaging put your phone or camera directly above the coin but at a slight angle, It's best if you can find something to set your phone on. Then use a light and shine it just off the coin. Here are a few photos of my coins, I take these using my smartphone and my ceiling lights as a source. It just takes a lot of practice to get it just right.
Thanks for the response. I guess that means I should disable the flash when taking pictures, correct?
My hands aren't steady enough to take pictures with my phone. All my pictures are blurry. Will have to find someone with steady hands.
