Yeah my eyes were shot also, trying to jump back and forth to Id. Best thing to do is take a piece of paper write all the known RPM'S down. Then eliminate each one till you get close. Even then it may be a tad bit different . Line the one I just picked up. The bottom Left serif of the D has a very small bump on it. Is it a chip? Is it part of the underlying D? Or did that area by chance take a hit and there's a small mark there?
I also find sometimes it's better to put it down and walk away. Then when you come back your mind and eyes sometimes pick up a different perspective .
I'm a firm believer that your mind and eyes sometime play tricks. Making you believe that you're seeing something that you're not.

1937 D S II.jpg It looks to be a D/S from the first image when you enlarge the image. That's why when I went to look up the WRPM I had a hard time getting the correct number.
Blow up your first image I swear looks like an S dead center of the D. Here I marked it, copy this image, enlarge it up to 150 % . OK see the green S ,then notice the outer loop of the D looks doubled or fatter, then the white arrows point to the back side of the underlying D 1937 DS.jpg

If I'm correct here and that's a BIG IF! but to my eyes I see an D/D/S 1937 MS 66 pastel toned Buffalo. & I see a new variety.
Checking the S it looks to me as the mms-002 small s used in 1937

Paddy i think u are right! I kept kept seeing an S last night but started getting blurry... You are definitely da man when it comes to nickels!!! Id hafta give you the credit for that one. Do one of the professionals need to see it in hand to get it recognized?

Here are two different shots of the mm, enlarged 200%. I toned down the color; it's easy to see details that way. No sharpening done; it would only increase noise.

I see the diagonal of the "S" as well. Of course, I'm very inexperienced with mm varieties--I mostly know about IHCs. :)
