New pick up this week - love the colors on this one, especially on the reverse with the ship. How do you think PCGS graded her?

Really pretty, I know better than to guess off my phone, but will say 65.

    64 with a color/toning bump to 65.

What are the high points on these, anyway?

The high point on the front (corner of the Bible) looks good, but the reverse (stern of ship) shows rub.

    I'll go 63

I bet the colors pop a little better in hand. Nice coin.

Winner, winner! Terrible picture of the slab, sorry about that. In natural light the colors really do pop.

Although many of these classic commemoratives were issued purely to generate income for certain organizations, the designs on many of them are just striking. I imagine the ship on the reverse of this one literally being tossed about in the waves, and the thoughtful (downtrodden?) look of the Pilgrim is appropriate given the struggles of the time.

Couldn't agree more, these classic era designs are about 100x more artistic and thoughtful for the commemoration than today's cookie cutter designs.

For me, it is not just the design of each of the CSC's, but also the story of why the coin was produced. IMHO, it's the most interesting series ever produced by the US.

I agree with you. It is also interesting how many of these issues are currently inexpensive given their low mintages. I'm using it as a buying opportunity to get designs I like at a decent price.

I have 9 left for the series, and they're all the top dollar ones except for the SF Bay Bridge. My wallet is not going to like me, I won't tell my wife, and my kids won't be excited at the reading of my will, but hey.

The prices on the series is so low, I really can't imagine it going anywhere but up. I may be imagining it, but it almost seems as they the prices have started to rise a bit over the last 12 months. I think it's an opportune time to get the series.
