Second, here's a lovely 1943-S PCGS Winged Liberty Dime. GTG in the poll and post some comments as well, please. Let us know how you like the strike/luster/eye-appeal and surface condition. Obviously, this is not a problem coin... and again, poll closes after 7 days. Enjoy!
@physics-fan3.14 @C-B-D @Paddy54 @Seattlite86 @Rheingold @MercuryBen @Eduard @Paul M. @Skyman @TheWebMiner @Randy Abercrombie I'd be happy to have your opinion on this lovely dime!
I voted 66-FSB. IMO, this is not really a FB coin, as there is some flatness in the bands, but PCGS doesn't have the same standards I do. . Strike looks excellent. Luster looks great on the reverse, but harder to get a read on the obverse. As far as eye appeal goes, I like it, but the obverse toning is much darker than I like. For that reason, I would probably pass on buying the coin myself, but I do think it's a nice coin.
The darkness and the toning make this one difficult. It looks on par with 66s I have sent in. Not FB.
67 no FSB. Clean surfaces. No marks at normal magnification. Strong luster. Attractive toning. Choice gem coin. Reverse shows at least 2 if not 3 breaks across the bands. No FSB.
65 FB ~Toning/ eye appeal looks nice (I'm guessing the dark part on the obverse is just a shadow and in hand it's lighter) ~Luster appears strong (based on how I'm interpreting the photo) ~Strike is solid ~Cheek area appears to have some grazes, which would have kept it out of a 66/67 holder ~FB is borderline, but I think it just made it
I am not qualified to grade modern coins....but will venture a grade of 65 and with very pretty luster. If I collected these, that is what I would chose.
Gorgeous color on that coin, and the luster looks strong. It is not FSB. Based on the whispy marks I see I guessed 65, but I could easily see this in a 66 holder.
I don’t see anything holding this coin back. The surfaces are clean, luster looks strong, and eye appeal is excellent. I see slight bridging on middle bands that should preclude FB designation so my guess is MS67.
