I agree with John Johnson: Where's the wear? I would say 65 or 66, as I don't see the marks either.

Five folks nailed it. I agree with PCGS it has a bit of wear. I love the coin. AU-58

I'm lousy at these. :( Most of mine are well circulated.

AU58 does seem right on the money. But that’s some serious coin. Very nice!

Look closely at Liberty's hair, especially above her eyebrow and ear. Also look at the Eagles wings. Both are ever so slight but present.

Clear au. Enough luster breaks there’s no way it’s unc. Personally I thought one point lower but regardless it’s pretty and un screwed with. I like it a lot

I was the first of the five to get it right. Actually, I was the first overall response to the GTG post ;)

For those who were confused on the AU vs. MS of this coin: the high points to look for here are the Eagle's brow, the hair over the ear of Liberty, and Liberty's bosom. What you'll see in Larry's very good pictures is just the slightest hint of a darker grey there. This is very subtle, however,

In these pictures, the far more convincing clue that this coin is AU can be seen in the obverse fields. Look especially in the field in front of Liberty's face, and the field behind her head. See how it looks a bit dull and muted, compared to the protected areas? The luster here is diminished due to circulation wear. This is a clear and absolute sign this coin has been circulated and deserves an AU grade.

However, the actual wear on the high points (mentioned above) is insignificant. There isn't any flattening. There is merely a disturbance of luster. Hence, the coin is an AU-58 ( a really old-school 58. Nowadays you might see 58's with actual flattening. Ridiculous!). In hand, under the right light, these subtleties are more apparent.

The fact is, this is an absolutely magnificent coin and one which I was pleased to view in hand. Congrats to Larry for purchasing this coin!
