I have a hard time passing up a nice 38D Buffalo, in fact I bought four of them today. Here is the Black hills gold edition. Looks like the linear line running from 8 to the cheek is probably a lamination. It isn't damage. Here is a better look at the area, lamination.
Beautiful. That era was a hard time for many in history, but the buffalo nickel is my favorite American coin by far.
Even with the disturbance from the rim to nose? I don't disagree, just wondering your stance on a planchet flaw. Years ago that was a negative to the grade.
I don't have a firm stance on planchet flaws yet. Grading is still new to me, I only have two and a half years of experience.
Remember how much the strike used to play into a grade higher than 65? That used to be the cut off for premium.
