I will put it this way, the coin rivals an 1887 MS63 Dmpl I own. A tad more luster grazes. But, still I would say it is conservatively graded. I am thinking that the coin before encapsulation was dipped and improperly rinsed. And I am thinking that I might crack the coin and do it right. Any opinions? @GDJMSP
Well, it kinda depends on what you want I guess. I say that because given the very lenient grading of the TPGs in today's world there's no telling what any of them might grade that coin. You'd also have to understand the early S mint Morgans are graded on stricter, tougher standard than most other Morgans, and correctly so. So that too could and should play a part. Personally, and based on the pics provided, I'd put it at 58 at best, and the special designation, I'd have to see it in hand to make that call. And I do not see any signs of a bad dip in the pics, but I suppose it's possible you might since you have the coin. Bottom line - I'd leave it alone.
