I think PCGS was banking on you resubmitting to them... I would send them their label to remove from the pop report and fill them in on what it properly grades now....
That coin looks awesome. I would have definitely have bought that as a PL based on the frosted imprint. The frosted image is not done with a standard die for circulated coins.
Actually, it is. The die preparation for the circulation Morgans created DMPL followed by PL quality coins. The frosted devices eventually wore away and the mirrored fields turned to cartwheel after a relatively small number of strikes as compared to the life of the dies.
Is there any general estimate on how many strikes it took on average to transition to cartwheel fields?
Agreed. Why I haven’t sent them anything lately. My last submission i thought almost everything was a grade low plus them nuking stuff for no reason
