    I say 66 5FS but wouldn't be surprised if it got a 65.

I voted MS66 no steps. Just a few too many nicks for me.

I confess, for this series, my picky-prissy grading judgement will always be overruled by an exceptional reverse. There, I've said it! MS-66+

    65FS for me.

Kind of a cop-out guess, but I'm horrible with nickels.

Jeffersons are not that easy. It has taken me a few years to learn to grade them.

So I think that this coin clearly has 5 full steps and that NGC was absolutely nitpicking when they didn't give it 5FS. My plan is to crack and cross it to PCGS and hope it gets MS66 FS.

    Thinks just like me.

    You got the assigned grade.

Mirrors my thinking, and if NGC didn't give it 67, PCGS definitely won't.

    Yep

    Agreed.

    Boom

    It seems we all agree.

Another one who got the assigned grade.

I would take MS66+, but I'd rather have the full steps.

    I wish!

So your saying PCGS has lower standards?

I'll bet if he cracked it out and sent it back to NGC he'd even get it.

Significantly lower standards for strike designations across the board, including FS (Full Steps). PCGS allows shallow marks across the lines and very minor bridging as long as the overall continuity of the lines are not interrupted.

I thought about doing that, but I am a little peeved at them right now so when there is a toss up on who to send my coins to, I am picking PCGS right now.

And FWIW, I think you are correct, it would get 5FS at NGC if resubmitted.

For Jefferson strikes? Absolutely. Also for Franklin Halves, and FBL

Step couldda gone either way. The little gouge and weakness above the third column is what got it.

The thing is this coin is very tough as clean as your specimen is but it is easy to find FS. I think they were a little hard on it.
