Looks nicer than a Proof 66 but, if bought for 66 money it's a good deal. I'd go with proof 67 or better. There must be something I can't see in the picture that's holding it back.

Can’t tell from that picture. Quality is terrible.

Nope. It looks exactly like it’s pictures. PCGS does not always get it right. Why must something be “holding it back?” Do you think PCGS or NGC gets it right every time?

    They did undergrade that.

TPG’s especially PCGS are tough on modern coinage. Even harder on modern horded coins such as the ‘64 Kennedy and the ‘76 Bicentennial half. Everybody saved them. The slightest imperfection knocks the grade down. The picture shows something behind Mr Kennedy’s head at 3 o’clock. Only with the coin in hand and with magnification can the little nick pitdy specks be seen. Count each little thing and subtract the total from 70 and you will have your grade.
Any way that’s a beautiful coin. Nice find. Enjoy and happy collecting!

I sure think so. I would say more like 67, or 67+. My other early Kennedy proofs that are 67s and 68s look exactly like that.

Very nice JFK. If I would have been on time to the party, my guess would have been PR67. Thanks for sharing the coin and results.

What's that "thing" (snake, worm?) going down the back of his neck...?

Hey, at least PCGS got the coin's orientation correct in the holder...retainer ring and coin are perfectly plumb/straight...looks good. Hard to judge the proof-quality in photo for grade...need to see it in person. Seems better than 66 for sure.

No neither of them get it right all of the time. Sometimes not even close in either direction.

Morgandude11 I have a similar coin, what designates it DDO FS-101? I got mine solely for my type set and don’t really know much about different varieties. And as far as grade I really like yours too. Here is mine below. C8D0659E-F494-4790-AF5B-72116D9BEDA0.jpeg 58793E1F-E040-4333-ACCB-B76F138AC822.jpeg

Is the back of his neck supposed to be like that

It is a beautiful proof. I do not see it as a DDO. The doubling is around “In God We Trust,” and occasionally the date is doubled. Yours is just a beautiful Kennedy that would make for a great type coin.
