@Wheatmaster101 I don't think it's over graded at all. If the luster on the obverse is the same as the reverse then that is a 66 all day long. I'd send it to cac just to see what the master thinks. Wouldn't surprise me if it got the green.
My first glance was it's a 66 but noticed the chatter on the bust...I grade it at 65, but all 66s have that same chatter on the bust...the color is average for a mint set Franklin...I don't collect mint set franklins for this reason, but many collectors like this kind of toning. There are many 66s that look like this one so I agree with the grade on the holder even though it's toned over. I still prefer brilliant coins unless the toning is extraordinary.
The color is definitely a plus in my opinion. Like you said, not WOW, but it is nice. I would love to see a shot of the obverse showing the luster like the reverse image.
Just got around to cruising this coin with a 10x glass, looking for varieties.... Ask and ye shall recieve. Yea my photo quality sucks, and you DO hafta tilt it a bit to bring it up, but there it is- guess its more of a forest green and red.
I wonder how much Rick Tomaska would sell this for on his website?? $500?? How much would he try to peddle it for on TV? $750 Does anyone know, can you send him a coin to try and get one of those Everest stickers? Or, does he ONLY put Everest stickers on coins HE cherry picks?? (Think thats what they are called, like HIS version of cac)
I found a book of his at a local book store Black and Read! As soon as I saw his name I put it back on the shelf.
