Please guess the grade of the 1944-S Jefferson Nickel shown below. I have attached a poll for you to cast your vote and you may select up to 3 different things: the numerical grade, + grade, and * designation.

MS-64 due to reverse wear. Very sharp coin.

If there is wear, it cannot be an Mint State grade.

What you are seeing on the reverse here appears to be mostly due to a weak strike.

Could be a weak strike. Monticello appears week especially the steps. Hope I'm wrong, good luck.

Love the luster on the reverse, but I don't like the apparent graze above column 3, and the obverse doesn't excite me enough to give this coin more than MS64.

If this is anything less than 66, I'll be surprised.

I actually voted 67 because Lehigh and NGC and I tend to disagree about how to weight remnant planchet defects on the high points from a weaker strike. I'd call it a 66.

Can you be more specific, what I see above column 3 looks like a die crack.

i gave it the 66 but they should add in "weak strike" on a coin like this as it could easily be mistaken for wear/rub... just my opinion :D

I am trying to figure out what the mark is going from the lower jaw up through the top of Jeffs hair. I am imagining it is another die crack. I am in at 65* on this one. Looks like nice smooth luster on this one. It doesn't seem to have that blazing look to it.
