It seems pretty consistent that the TPG grade is one point higher on these early Jeffersons than they should be. Glad to know we still disagree!
I don’t mind the coin in MS67, but it’s definitely low end for the grade. I think it looks better in the slab photo than it does in my oversized photo. I think it’s important to look at both the slab photo as well as the oversized photo when trying to grade from photos, but I’m too lazy to edit out the label for my GTGs
I have two other 44-Ds listed, this one is going to NGC for designation review. They are all nice coins in their own way.
I like it at 66+ with full steps. I think it would CAC at 66 but as mentioned seems lower end of the spectrum for 67. I hope it gets the FS it deserves. Update here if you can once it’s back from review.
BINGO! This coin has really grown on me over time, and I think it looks much better in the new edge view slab with that wonderful 5FS designation on the label. This coin is going into my "Homemade War Nickel" Registry set.
