OK...so time for the reveal. PCGS graded this coin MS66. This coin has booming luster with smooth clean fields. Having compared to other coins in MS67 slabs I believe this coin stands right with them. I definitely believe this is a very choice coin at MS66 and could have easily earned a 67 grade. When I bought it from rlms_cents...that was the selling point with this one. I was looking for a coin with great luster and clean fields...a really nice example of a steel cent and this one delivered. I just posted another GTG for a 1943-S cent that I also bought from Dick at the same time with a very different look.

I have a few 66s that fall into the same group. but is it worth the fees for an upgrade, or do you just add another sticker to it and call it a day? A collector will pay the premium anyway just to own it...buy the coin and not the holder!

I'm not going to pay for the hope of upgrading it...I bought the coin for my collection from a friend who loved Lincoln's and gave this coin his stamp of approval. That's good enough for me.

NGC would have gave it a 67. With PCGS 66 to a 67 is a big jump mostly related to luster.

I honestly think that this one is undergraded. It has a rough surface, something I would think indicative of a steel plated strike.
There really isn't much for luster disturbance. Is as struck is rarely defined on this board
That coin is full of luster. It would be cool to see a reverse slab shot.

The coin has beautiful luster and is a stunner in hand. I was shocked when I got it. Dick said I would be pleased but that was an understatement.

I posted a 43-S GTG yesterday the he also sold me and it is just as stunning but in a different way. Not quite as clean but mirror fields.

I need to find a 43-D to go with them.
