This coin has the look of a crusty gem that NGC loves so much, but it is really tough to gauge the luster on coins like this. I’m saying the toning mutes the luster enough to prevent a gem grade.

Can't help but wonder what kind of exposure tones a 90% silver
    coin sepia?

This one is going to be all over the place. I'm at MS60. The toning is not allowing me to see some of the detail, perhaps in hand I would be higher.

Tough one. I think it has wear.

Well I definitely don't like the color but I'll say a 35. It has a good amount of wear but it could be a 40.

Are they trying to claim that the eagle's feathers on the reverse are simply weakly struck? I find that hard to believe.

Add in the wear on the leg, no hand, robe and breast.

I think the TPG grader had a hangover to give that coin an MS grade.

I'm not completely surprised. I gave it MS60 and hedged that in hand it might go higher. :)

I think they graded it during happy hour?
