GTG 1941-S 25c

    The images are pretty accurate to how the coin actually looks.

    This is one of about 12 coins I'll be having sent to CAC eventually. This one and one other I think have a slight chance at gold. We will see.

    Well before I read what PCGS graded it, I would have graded it at an MS-64 on a good day. I can see that coin as an MS-63. The coin just does not look right to me. It lacks the cartwheel luster you need for a MS-65 or 66. I like the toning of the coin and I think that is why I bumped it to an MS-64.

    If you had only published one photo and I did not see a cartwheel luster, then I would have thought it was because the light did not hit the coin right, but you posted several photos and I don't see any cartwheel luster. So I would have graded MS-63, with a possible bump to MS-64 if the toning looks good in hand.

    I would be interested in seeing what CAC would grade it. It might get a green bean, but I doubt it would get a gold bean. I hope I'm wrong.
