Do you have to request they check step designation, or do they add it (if full) as part of regular grading for Jeffs ?
Both PCGS and NGC will automatically designate for full steps if the coin qualifies. However, if you have a five step NGC Jefferson that was graded prior to 2/16/2004 which is when they first started recognizing 5 full steps, you may send the coin in for "Designation Review" for $12 per coin. Even if the coin does not get the 5 full step designation, it still gets reholdered which costs $10 per coin. Here are some examples. The second coin had a decent shot at 5FS and it needed to be reholdered anyway so it was worth the extra $2 even though it didn't make it.
This is the point in the thread where the people who said MS67 5FS say to the people who said MS66: "HOW YA LIKE ME NOW"
