    Coins in this range, it comes down to how much luster is left. (IMO). I think the luster must be a little better than how many of us read it in the pic.

    Yes it is very hard to judge luster from static photos. I guessed 53 as I thought there was enough loss in the fields to justify that. I think in the future if a coin looks AU I will just guess "choice AU" and leave it at that.
