What's with the 6 or 9 in the field behind Foster's head?

    Holy heck!!!

I just noticed mine has the 6/9 also! Never noticed that. I wonder what it's from???

***EDIT*** I just looked on coinfacts, and the P's and D's have the 6/9, but the S's don't. Interesting!

Ok, the 6/9 is actually the initials "C O", for Constance Ortmayer, the designer. What a bizarre location for her initials!

When i read the question i had no idea either, im glad you looked it up. Ive never heard of one of the mints skipping a designer initial before?? I thought the dies came from philly, so very strange indeed

A little more looking, and it seems the initials are there on the S strikes, just further down in coinfacts photos. My guess is the initials were polished off, or grease-filled in those in which they aren't visible. Almost makes the Cincinnati even that much more interesting.

Is a squoze more than a skosh?
