There's some wear at the high points, some dings in the shoulder feathers on the reverse. The lighting almost hides the scar on her cheek and along the neck line. Her hair shows that it is either worn, or not well struck. Looks like rubs in the luster. There's also a blemish at about 11 o'clock on the rim. Almost looks a bit dented? I'm in the AU55 or MS62 and it would be difficult to go much further without the coin in hand.
I'm at a 62 on this coin ,considering the holder and time period, Now if I were smart I wait for Ed to show up , since he has a grading library ,I could piggy back on his GUESS! However I'm liking this one at 62 very nice coin.
Holders are my thing, so I do notice them usually even with minimal details. ACG does get it right at times, especially in the older generations of their holders. I have observed plenty of ACG Morgans and Peace Dollars that were appropriately graded, but there are also some out there that are 1-2 points off. Since many people avoid ACG, one can usually get a better deal for an accurately graded coin.
Yeah, I consider their early stuff similar to early PCI Greens with the Futura type - look very, very close when you find one. I'd need the coin in-hand to decide between AU58 and MS64.
Ok well here it is: I thought the grade given was interesting. I think maybe it could pass as 61/62 but for ACG actually giving a decent grade I thought was interesting. Congrats to those who got it!
Well I got it and agree with the grade, but I could have easily seen MS-63 and wouldn't have necessarily disagreed either. It was hard to see if the weakness were strike related or if it was circulation wear. Nice grab at $26.
The correct grade for this coin is a ms60 but I'm on my iPhone out of town in Aruba so I don't have access to my computer for a really good pic
Then how can you say you know it's MS63? These graders didn't grade it AU58 from their iPhone while out of town in Aruba.
True....but these graders never could leap tall buildings in a single bound... were stronger than a locomotive.....had x ray vision! I Imagine that comes in handy at the beach in Aruba.... Well sometimes others not so good....And I betcha those graders really never rocked a skin tight blue suit with red cape....It's a bird....no it's a plane .....no it's only Ed Wood Grader to the stars*****
Never say "mistake " Ed.... super heroes don't make those.... remember it's an "Alternative Factuality"
If you don't have a good pic, how can you offer a "correct" grade? Don't stop posting, though. In all the years I've been doing this, you're the most capable of your type I've ever encountered, and there have been dozens if not hundreds.
Ed, MS60 is a real ugly coin. It's the lowest uncirculated grade. AU58 is the highest circulated grade. MS60 isn't the next grade above AU58. MS60 is the bottom of the uncirculated grades, and AU58 is the top of the circulated grades. That's all.
Not to mention that the grades are completely different and not really an opinion at all. Either it has slight wear and is AU, or it hasn't seen circulation and is MS but pretty jacked up.
MY COIN being graded by the famous Ed Wood??? Such an honor. I propose from now on in GTG threads, that no one reveal the answer until Mr. Wood has given his professional opinion lol.
