I guess ANACS is at least as tough on woodies as the other TPG's. Personally, I see nothing to keep it from a 63. So its a woody, maybe a 62. But how ANACS grades this as a 61 escapes me.
I've noticed on the past two free submission offers that anacs has had I've sent some coins in and I've been surprised how critical they have been. I'm cracking one now and sending to ngc.
All the hits - all over the head, in front of the head, and down onto the collar & shoulder - would be my guess.
They still don't know what they're doing with these would be my guess. I'd think a 61 would be a dog. Still, a 63 isn't worth that much more, anyway. Throw out the "grade" on this coin, just as you would if it were a monster rainbow. This is monster wood-graining.
I can't tell what is grain and what is a hit. Nice beard, strong clear date, nice strong O in ONE. I would have called it a 64 from the image.
