Your first picture makes it look grainy and fake and distorted.

Looks really different in scale pic.

The last pics make it look like it may have been polished. I think it comes back as a details coin.

I'd say VF Details altered surfaces.

I chose not to pursue buying any of the 1921 because of the costs involved. No comment whether the coin is fake or not, but I would envy anyone who would pay the going rate for this 21D.

HI. I right clicked your scale picture and then opened the picture in a new tab. Then I enlarged the picture to see details. I compared your coin to the 1921-S VF-20 on page 256 of Q. David Bowers "Grading Coins by Photographs" 2nd Edition and it looks similar. My opinion is genuine VF-20.

    VF30. A straight grade, IMHO.

Cool machine, but it's having trouble reading the date :D

    Looks around vf20 to me.

Acid could impart that look. Fact it's uniform through the rim, too, is suggestive of it.

I still say the first set of images make it look horrible! :)

    Glad it straight graded.

(You should practice your numismatic photography!) ;)

Hmm leaving the authenticity question aside we all overshot it. But in the slab the grade looks about right, I'd say.

@ilmcoins was this an ebay purchase? (Just curious/nosy)

No, I purchase single coins, estates, and coin collections locally. Im about to roll out a platform where others can do the same in other areas and will do a post about it in a week or so.

Glad it straight graded for you. Looks like the imaging may have been a tad unflattering. :)
