The eagle's head/neck does show AU58 wear, @LuxUnit. That's just a touch, not too much wear, remember. Here, compare it to the head on this technical MS64. It's not much wear, but it's distributed pretty evenly on both sides. Sometimes they'll call it "cabinet wear" to appease those who like to play word games elevating their wear from plain old "circulation wear." The ones who like to swallow that fail to discern the term "circulation" in grading is a term of art and does not in any way denote actual circulation. Most wear occurs in circulation; hence, "circulation wear." From a technical grading standpoint, however, all we want to know is how closely this coin resembles the condition on the day it was minted. Thus, if there's wear originating from any source, regardless of the reason for the wear, the condition and hence the technical grade is less than MS. Remember, the technical grade is the condition grade, and the condition is all that's relevant to that grade. Sorry if I'm giving you more than you're asking for. Sometimes I get a little carried away, and there's nothing anybody can do about it, lol... Link: https://coins.ha.com/itm/morgan-dol.../131911-24213.s?ic4=ListView-Thumbnail-071515
Good info, I guess now after looking I can see a little wear. I'm gonna hold strong at 63 though just because instinct at this point!
It should command at least that in the market. It has too much personality going for it. Actually, as I said, I think it’s even better, a 64. The market graders will throw that wear off on cabinet wear to feel good about it.
