I'll bet this has been in an old blue coin folder since 1916, its a beauty. I see no wear or marks I'll say 65+ and looks like a full head. Great strike for a 1916 walker, I'm in love.
Beautiful coin, toning looks a bit suspect though. I'm guessing a AU58, even with the molested looking boobs, I think it's just the pic.
Strike is fantastic, and I see plenty of luster under the toning. Nice circ-cameo look to my eye... I know lots think the toning break down the leg = circulation, but I don't equate the two. If this was stored in an envelope or other such manner that type of toning is semi-common on UNC coins. Your call, if you like it keep it! If not, send it back. The price difference between AU58 and MS62 is essentially nil.
For accuracy's sake, I didn't say periwinkle = pink, I said everybody knows periwinkle is worth a lot more than pink. Everybody knows periwinkle is worth only a little more than lavender, which, in turn, is worth only a little more than pink. The continuum for smart toning shoppers is, periwinkle, lavender, pink, with periwinkle being worth the most money, pink being worth the least money, and lavender being in the middle.
I think that coin is balanced on a knife-edge between 'acceptable' and 'enviro damage.' Personally, the obverse is too darkly colored for my taste, but you (Chief) may feel differently. I really like the reverse where the patina gives a lot of depth to the design. Perhaps a short trip to the sweat lodge will help you decide.
