GTG - 1916 Mercury Dime

Seems generous with the FB designation IMO.
The connecting lines are just not crisp enough, and there seems to
be at least 1 break. An MS 64 should have FB. I think it's over graded
as well.

Thats an older slab isn't it ? "supposedly" a bit tighter on grades then.

Here's a lower grade 1916-S that shouldn't be graded lower, IMO, than the OP example. Mine didn't get FB either.

You should let me go before you. That way you can guess any grade other than what I said and have a better chance at guessing right. Of course that assumes the TPGs got it right.

 

Maybe PCGS liked the originality? I don’t know. Someone liked it enough to send it to CAC probably for the same reason. I think it’s all right, still looking for “the one” though.

 

The toning does detract from the coin IMO, but definitely would hang onto it until a better one comes along.

 

My choice is also 58/63
