well I am sending to to be slabbed. PCGS will be done by 18 Dec. Wasn't aware the prerequisite of having to be slabbed before guessing. thanks.....
Well, it looks REALLY, REALLY nice!!! It looks like a gem 65 to me, but then, I read what Mainebill said, so now I wonder. I still go with 65, but I have been known to make mistakes. Ha, ha! I hope it is genuine since I learned many of these are counterfeit, and I can't tell from the photos.
daniel, i feel ya. telling lightly cleaned silver or gold coins is a hard one. if straight grades im guessing 63~64 based on Pcgsonline photo grades
Nice looker. I hope Bill is wrong about the possible cleaning. I will be interested to see how PCGS handles it.
Lovely coin, great images of gold on what looks like grey granite. The ding in front of her chin and the condition of the rim are detrimental. That said, I'd be very pleased to have her in my collection. I, too, look forward to seeing the TPG grade. Thanks for posting.
The surfaces are very smooth and the strike is excellent but the luster seems very washed out. Could just be the lighting but if it's been cleaned or worse, it's hard to tell by the pictures. I think I'll pass on guessing this one.
The marks on it would put it at 63 if unc. Maybe 64 on a real good day. I see a touch of a rub on the hair though. And it has very dead surfaces no toning or patina and no luster like a mint state gold coin should. Like it was left in the dip way too long
Again, because of the picture and the lighting, guesses are all over the place. I present that grading upper mint state coins is impossible by pictures only. How about that eBay seller of the DMPL Morgan dollars? They look like they are painted yet his feedback shows it's all in his lighting.
