Agreed. It looks at least 65 to my eye. Its luster is like a mix of satin and gloss, and it’s bright. The 1903 is perhaps the best issue to come of out Philly. It’s the best Morgan in a 63 holder that I’ve seen.

Significantly undergraded. Experienced collectors on this forum, who tend to be MORE critical than TPGs on average (based on compilation of GTGs) have graded this in the 64-65 range. I agree with the consensus that it is definitely 1-2 grades off, assuming the pictures represent the true look of the coin.

@Morgandude11 - when I bought this a few years back and got it in hand I couldn’t believe it was in a 63 holder. It was one of those moments where I knew I had cherry picked a PQ specimen (buy the coin, not the holder scenario). It really is a sensational Morgan.

I think they net graded it due to the weakly struck hair, and the abrasions on the focal area on the obverse look worse on the new photos than they do on the TruView

Still not a 63. Hair is somewhat weakly struck, but obverse marks are more like a gem coin than a 63. I have much worse obverse bag marked Morgans in 65 holders. It is the nature of the beast.

Agreed, I had it at MS65 as well, just saying that the PCGS TruViews have a tendency to show a coin in its best possible light.

Definitely. TruViews are not good for grading, IMHO. They show a coin in the most possibly favored light conditions. They are more for show—I call them “album snapshot” pictures, designed to make a coin look pretty.

My thought was 65. CAC it and see if you get a gold sticker.
