I'm not so sure that it would CAC. It looks nice, but the photo does make it a bit difficult to judge. I also had a very nice (in my opinion) MS 62 Morgan that looked 63/64 semi-pl and it failed to sticker: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/guess-the-grade-1885-s-morgan.296429/
No it didn’t I did not get a reason (I did not directly send it in though). I didn’t see anything wrong with it, so I was a bit surprised.
Most of us look at our coins through a loop in a room with ordinary lighting (with a little bit of hope and bias). I've never been to a TPG facility so I don't know exactly the process of grading coins but I am told they use halogen lights, along with magnification. The lighting will expose any light hairlines, or lost luster. So maybe it is an MS62. It is a beautiful coin, nonetheless, and makes a fine addition to your collection I am sure.
Well, you could always send it back in. When you do, ask for comments on that specific coin. If it does not pass, JA will tell you the reason why. I'm just shocked that it failed.
I guess we're saying your pictures aren't showing it, she looks "flat," and what else could they have graded her down on? I'd shoot this one over to CAC, if I could, for their verdict, at least they'll explain it.
Possibly. This one is definitely a CAC contender. I got 4-5 other coins I want to send in to CAC too. I truly feel it's under graded, but oh well. I payed MS 62 $ for it, so I'm fine either way. Thanks for the advice.
I have a feeling it has been sent in before (other coins from the same source also failed to sticker). Plus, I already sold it...so watch out for a potential holder premium post.
