I will post the answer this afternoon, It's pretty obvious what the consensus here is on this coin, But, are they correct? @jtlee321 @TypeCoin971793 @Beefer518 I know I am missing a few @Lehigh96
If you want to sell it let me know. I have a guy that is nuts about New Orlean Mint coins. nice morgan by the way.
I would say 65 CAC, but TPGs are so inconsistent. I’ve seen worse in 66 holders. I’ve seen lots of nicked up 65s, and lots of nice 65s like this one.
This was my exact same thoughts the second I saw this amazingly beautiful coin. The fields are just gorgeous and dripping with luster. I'd grade it a 65++ with a cherry on top!! Then seal it with a............
I'm with Ed (Justin) on this; MS65+. Very possibly a 66, but like everyone said, the cheek keeps it at 65, but it's so close to 66.
This one outta spark a little controversy, This is why I said that, I was a little sad with the way it photographed, the marks on the cheek aren't a good representation of the coin. There is contact there but not distracting in hand. In fact, I think that those marks are the only thing that kept this from a 67. It truly is gorgeous, and full of luster.
Look at the cheek. There are far too many hits for the 66+. I have no idea how they graded that coin that high. Sure, it is attractive, but 66+? No way.
I hear you. I have had several coins, that in hand look amazing and under the lens a few of the very small flaws really jump out at you.
The fields are very clean and I do think the photo exaggerates the hits. It's one of those that could slip into a 65 holder on a bad day and stay in the 66/66+ range on better days. @Pickin and Grinin you have it in hand, so I'll trust your judgement that it's a solid coin!
I say the 66+ grade is a little generous but I have been seeing similar grades for coins with these amount of marks. In the primary focal area I don't see any major distractions so it could grade this high. Some may dispute "major distractions" on this coin.
