XF also saves money and leaves room for more :)

  3. I am personally more of a VF guy, but I do like XF's.

Understandable, it means it's been used but still holds enough detail to appreciate the coin.

  6. Well to be honest, I like Barber Half dollars in any grade. It's just that VF has just stuck with me in terms of detail and skin.

The person you bought that coin off of is an online Barber friend. Good, passionate guy.

He struck me as such when we spoke together. I always prefer to purchase from fellow collectors over dealers. He was kind enough to give me a couple of contacts for Barber Quarters and other coins as I work on my type set. Unfortunately, that Barber Half ate up my current budget for coins and I'll have to wait a month or two (I have a strict $50/month budget) before I chase more for my Type Set. That coin looks beautiful and I'm certain it was worth the 5 month wait.

I called it 45. Touch too much wear and loss of luster for 50. A solid upper grade 45 tho. Nice coin

I was stuck at 45 as well. With a bit more luster I could see it in a 50 holder.

I voted 40. Guess I'm a bit more conservative as I've been getting back into active collecting after decades away. I've still got a 1960's technical grading mindset.

My guess was XF45. I think there's a bit too much wear on the headdress and hair to qualify as AU anything. Nice coin for the grade.
