Hey guys, I've got another guess the grade. I have not done one of these for a while, so I thought I would put up these 3 Morgan Dollars I've recently picked up. Any feedback you want to include is always appreciated. Up first is an 1887 Morgan: Now the 1897 Morgan: (The holder has some pretty bad scuffs near Liberty's ear and back towards her hat. Also the thing near the eagle's eye on the reverse is some rubbery stuff from the gasket in the holder.) And finally the 1904-O Morgan:
I'm going to say MS 64 on all three ...all are fairly mark free (no major disturbances in the fields or on the cheek) and lustrous...I could see any of them being 65s but think you found a nice group of PQ 64s (with at least a few in older holders)
If you had a 1940-O Morgan that would be a truly rare find! I will go with 64 on the first two and 65 on the 1904-O.
Ha ha!! I fat fingered it got the numbers transposed. Thanks for catching it and letting me know. I got it changed.
1887: MS64 1897: MS65 1904-O: MS65 Your photography is so good that I find myself needing to restrain myself when participating in your GTG threads, I always guess high.

1887- MS 64 1897-MS 64 (close to 65, but just a few bagmarks short of it). 1904o- MS 65 high in grade. A few facial marks shy of 66. All 3 are high eye appeal coins.
He is right, Justin. Your coin photography rocks. It captures the actual look of a coin attractively, and accurately without artificially juicing them. No matter how I try, by either my iPhone 13, or my Nikon Mirrorless $4000 camera, my photos of coins is awful. I do landscape and nature photography well, but my coin photography is for crap.
I appreciate it! I actually started out with landscape photography as well. Then I got into sports photography and eventually coin photography. It's all a journey of learning. I still struggle with Lincoln Cents, I just can't capture the luster and toning. Morgan Dollars are very easy on the other hand. If you ever want some pointers or have questions, I am more than happy to help you out.
my eyes aren't up to real grading tonight, but I would happily add any one of those to my date set so will agree with those above saying 64-65 on all 3... Very pretty morgans
Ok, it's time for the reveal!! A lot of you have very good eye's for grading as a lot of you did well. The 1887 and 1904-O are actually in an old photograde holder I had never heard of, but the grading felt very accurate if not on the slightly conservative side. I was excited to pick them up. The 1897 is in an old PCGS rattler, I just can't pass these up if they have a nice looking coin in them.
