Strike: Average for the date, but incomplete details. A 66 for strike - those incomplete details just can't get a 67 for the strike score. Luster: From your pictures, above average. 66, no question. Eye Appeal: Delightful rim toning frames lustrous fields. An above average appearance. Contact marks: On the reverse, there are two big hits on the eagle's breast, and one minor hit in the field below the right wing. No other reverse marks worth mentioning. On the obverse, there are a couple of luster breaks on the cheek, a couple in the field in front of her face, and a few significant marks in the field behind her hair near UNUM. Overall, very few marks. All this adds up to a 66, in my opinion. I suppose you might call it a 66+ (66/66+..... same thing), but I don't think it makes 67.
Very nice break down. I have gotten lazy lately about doing this analysis in the GTG threads. I need to start doing it again. Thank you for the great reply.
So we had one person who guessed correctly. He did get a bit of an unfair advantage with my hint though. @charlietig nailed it. It's in an NGC Gen. 4 holder at MS-63. I did not pay 63 money for it though, think closer to 64 money. When I saw it come up on Great Collections I knew it was going to have to come home to me.
I don't do it for all the GTGs, especially ones with not-so-great pictures. That is extremely undergraded at 63!
If CAC had say a platinum label for coins under-graded by two points this one would pass. Well played!
Speaking of Ed I would welcome him back....as now his replacement is an 18 y/o self proclaimed "expert " who hits the post button around every 15 minuites with another topic that has been rode hard and put away wet. I have placed him on iggy....as yesterday he was advising members that their 1967 $1 Canadian notes were valued at $80 @ piece . He also purchased some Mercury dimes that were real toned, compared to fake toned....expert lol...
I’d send it to New Jersey and hope for gold. I feel this is worthy though they never seem to give me one only green
There’s always one of them around here. Remember Josh. God he could be obnoxious. And of course Timmy And there’s been others. They always seem to get busy with life though and go away. Maybe when they’ll come back their more grown up
