Ok time to post a better image and finish this up...Just got this today as a friend on The opposite side of the state had it....and we finally met today at the show so I got to pick it up.
Damn. Field marks are killing this coin. I'll say just a hair under its true value.. Cant stick with 64
You got the vam correct , believe it or not I did too from the sellers poor images, I knew it was a hit list 40.
I was very happy with the hit list 40 vam slightly disappointed in the coinin the slab. I Will admit that this is the first pci slab I have gone after that didn't have a coin 1 to 2 grades higher then noted on the slab. The rev. is better than the obv. However in hand I see no wear so maybe the somewhat muted luster ,is causing me to find fault. I will also add the other pci holders housed 80 s and 81 s coins as we all know were hammered specimens, that had brilliant luster. In hand I think this would go low ms if regraded.
That I find impressive, I tried with the first pictures and got nowhere. I was thinking the luster was stronger in hand than the pictures showed... Darn nice 58 in a cool old holder in any case! Side question: Are (or were) TPG's known to mark coins AU just for muted luster in years that are known for it being stronger even without the presence of wear?
I don't know for sure if they did, I can only speculate that at this time there were different schools of thought on what graders basised their grading pratices. To what each company baised their protocol Im thinking we would need someone who was on the inside to give us that information.
Nice one Paddy, and a bit of a conditional rarity, the SSDC census has none lower than MS62. So you have the top lowball.
Sweet ..... thanks Dave that adds to the plus side for sure.....I had a good feeling about this one...I watched it for about a month...and so did a few others whom didn't take the chance.
BTW, I was looking up VAM 2B2 on VAM World Wikispaces and got a pop-up saying "It's time for us to say goodbye, we're closing Wikispaces". They wanted me to click on it and find out why, but of course I didn't. So the question, is VAM World on Wikispaces really shutting down? If yes, do you recommend another VAM site?
You should have The Wikispaces service will be discontinued, so vamworld.com needs to find a different provider.
Wikispaces is shutting down and Messydesk along with other VAMworld members are working on moving all the information to another yet to be determined site.
Hey Dave keep us posted on the move....I did notice that the server was shuting down....I had another site which shut down or moved their web site. I'm sure a lot of members have the site book marked. Thanks
