In my view, since TPGs are grading from subjective opinions, it could be argued that there are no "mistakes"...and that's the problem with TPG as it is. Where are the consistent, across-the-board standards...in this case to support that "frost breaks are extremely common on PL coins" and therefore should or shouldn't be considered in effecting the grade...? Same for the "few bag marks" in the very first/top photo (they can best be seen)...if all the marks/scratches different from die-polish lines in the field/front of the face and dings from the eye-socket, down the cheek/face, to below/front of the ear aren't bag marks, what are they...? And whatever they are, shouldn't they factor in the grade...?

Still, this is a very nice coin to be sure...I really like it...with its many attributes. But to me, based on MY experience and opinion both same and different from others, I think the 64PL is correct for this coin, and that the coin in total, if mainly because of the facial area, doesn't quite rise to a 65 level. As long as TPG exists as it does, we'll always have such "mistakes"...more of debate/controversy, really, and many more than necessary...to live with. TPG up to today but more in the last 10-15 years or so has fit a certain, ultimate narrative...not unlike with term limits...where many want change but those who don't are the ones who control and profit from it most. Enough. Happy first day of Spring...!
