Still over-graded, but the first picture does mute a lot of the luster while the second photo mutes the marks.

Wait, what !?!??? The slab photo ?????
You mean, the blurry, out of focus, pixelated slab photo is YOUR proof that the coin is accurately graded?????:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Riddle me this- would you purchase this coin ( if you were in the market ) if the slab photo was the ONLY photo you had, to assess the coins qualities ??????????

BTW guys- i wouldnt have chosen this coin had it been graded 67 SANS the + grade.
This isnt a great collections photo, so you cant cry wolf on THAT either !!!

You can't accurately grade from photos, which is why the experts have this coin MS67 while you have it MS65. All I said was that if I saw the slab photo instead of the photo you posted originally, I would have guessed MS67. Did you not read where I thought the coin was either MS66 or MS67 and went with MS66 because the photo and other guesses made me think those were abrasions on the cheek?

I would not buy any coin at this level with just a thumbnail picture, NO. But if I had photos of the quality that Heritage provides where I can see the entire coin in focus and zoom in on spots of interest, I would. In fact, I have purchased two MS68 Morgan Dollars sight unseen from Heritage Auctions using nothing but photos. For example:

But alas, I don't just have the thumbnail photo to consider, I also have the fact that PCGS & CAC agree that the coin is a high end MS67 after seeing the coin in hand. Thought far outweighs your attempt at this "gotcha" gtg thread designed to discredit them.

Marks rarely disappear at different angles, those are luster grazes (frost breaks) which don't impact the grade of the nearly as much, and are allowed on Morgans graded as high as MS68 (see example shown in post above).

Do luster grazes/frost breaks such as these on the cheek generally occur when the coin is struck or from light friction of some kind after the fact?

IMO, very large marks in many places for a 68...Also, kudos to you for buying 68s online.

On an 1880 S... most likely from bag friction.
These are supposed to be the nicest, best struck, prettiest coins in the entire series, as such they get graded tight, as a frogs ass. Atleast they used to....:sorry:

Yes, but your 68 example, has a better cheek, the luster grazes in the field, dont take up as much real estate. That toning, from an artistic view, is pretty awesome in its own right. Oh yea, and the luster is obviously booming! You ,know it, I know it, that we are comparing apples to kiwi here.

Those ARE abrasions on the cheek !!
If this were an 87P, 83CC etc- i would say other
