This is a split grade coin IMO. Also, the obverse appears to be struck from a worn die. VF 25/VF 35. Net VF 30.

This was a popular GTG! Let’s see what it graded.

CoinCorgi Tell your dog I said hi!

    I'm not gonna bother guessing the grade...BUT, I will tell you...oh wait...VF30!!!

Late to the game but I was at 35 and almost looks corroded or something on the obverse.

I got it right! I just didn't notice I typed F instead of VF but I said 30. Of I'm happy as those are not an area I collect.

Glad you have one. You have some very coins from what I've seen over the years.

The reason I was at 35, is because these are very difficult to grade.
And sometimes they will get the benefit of the doubt upgrade.

VF30 - the reverse is actually a little better, but with wear on all five points of the shield...

Some are, some aren't - this isn't weak, it's actually a pretty decent strike - notice how the diamond, all of the orbs and even part of the bars at the top and bottom (all inset into the C) are struck up...

A nice example for a type set - decent detail with some honest wear and the most common year so the pricing is right.

Nailed it right on. It is a very nice type coin, and has great eye appeal.

Got it right at VF 30. If not a 30, I was leaning toward VF 35 to give the obverse of the coin credit for a weak strike or worn die.
Nice coin. If I recall, my only trime type 1 is a raw 1851 O, the only non Philadelphia issue of the entire trime series.
