Thanks to you all for your comments. Paddy, you are the H10C man! that's for sure. Thank you for the interesting additional comments Omegaraptor and Magnus. Regarding my two H10C's above: Both graded straight at ANACS. I have had both for many years. The 1840-P with drapery was graded EF45.... The 1864-S was graded AU55. In my humble opinion, (and even I can see that), the 1840-P is undergraded. It is really a pretty coin with vivid colours and some lustre. The 1864-S is an animal to photograph. I must have shot about 20 pics of it - none were any good. It is not as dark and colourful as my pictures show, and it definitely is not rough in any way. On the contrary - it has nice lustre. I just cannot capture it with my camera. Thanks again for your many interesting comments.
Going off your images I can only say what I see... I do understand how hard it is to image these two. But the 40 is an ms coin and the 64 no way...In hand I maybe persuaded differently, using the images I will stick to my guns. No matter the two coins are very hard to find ,congrats having them in your collection.
Are the two specimens in old soap bar Anacs holders or the larger holders? The 64 has a huge chunk out of the obv. As the S in states. And again shows wear to my eye.
Good question. I only have a picture of the slab of the '40 P. I think this is one of the larger ones. I'll look at the '64-S next time I go to the SDB.
No that's the small soap bar style. Which I would leave as is because it is in that slab. My view is it matters not +/- your eye can tell what the coin is or isn't...but the slab is a classic.
I will confess to this if I ever get over to your side of the pond I love to sit down with you a bottle of red ,some bread and ossau-iraty...and go through your collection one specimen at a time.
I would have said au 58,on the 40 and 53 on the 64-s personally I’d try and cross them to pcgs but that’s me
Without looking at other's replies, I'm thinking MS61 and AU55, respectively. ETA: I see I'm late and too high on my first guess. Very pretty pieces Eduard!!!
Wait a minuite.....pictures?... No pictures...... in person ,in hand..... that little bit of trickery is going to cost you Brandon the wine, bread and cheese!! I may require a cigar.....too... Taking a geographical advantage.... And for God's sake don't try paying for the wine with a couple pounds of pennies.
Oh btw for those who don't know....ossau-iraty is a sheep's milk cheese made in the Pyrenees Mountains that dates before Christ. A semi soft gouda style of cheese, that is so yummy on your tastebuds. Brandon make sure you buy 2 wheels one to take over to Eduard's,mail me the other
I could definitely go for a cigar while drooling over Eduard's Dime collection. Eduard- do you have any specimens of The 1916-D?
I am in Wiesbaden, but only for the Army Navy game. We can put something together in the near future. Would be great to catch up!
