GTG: 1837 Feuchtwanger "Cent"

I've wanted one of these for along time, and this recently came up, and I was able to get it at a very reasonable price.

I figure this is an uncommon piece for most, so it would be a fun and educational item to do a GTG on it.

Reveal won't be until Sunday (6/13/21) evening so everyone gets a chance that wants.

Well, I think it's markedly better than the XF/AU examples I see currently offered...but not quite as nice as the NGC MS65 I just saw...looks like these mostly come struck with mushy feather detail on the high points...but not quite THAT mushy...so I'm going to venture a guess of AU58.

 

That is a very nice one. I am in at AU55

 

XF-45...........much nicer than mine.

 

AU55...some of the apparent wear may be strike quality.

 

Considering those cents were privately (and crudely) struck, I’d say the label says either AU55 or AU58.

I'll guess 55. The strike weakness on these can be confusing!

 

I would have to say high AU. AU55/58.. Very respectable example!!!

 

AU 53 ...I like the look and might even be low as these are difficult to grade

 

These are tough due to strike issues. I'm voting AU-55.
