There are many posts about Coinstar and similar change redemption machine coin finds, but how about the grocery store automatic change machine coin finds?

I received three cents in change recently and one of them looked old. It was a 1953-S wheat cent.

It appears to have been through a lot.

That's where I get nearly all my change, not that I get much change any more. And, yes, I've gotten wheats, circulated proofs, and other oddities. I don't remember whether I've gotten silver.

I did find at least one war nickel, but it was left in the coin return when I started checking out, so I don't know whether it was dispensed or rejected.
