Women and children too. Thus children get used to cold since the early childhood.

And the last pictures. Our archbishop carries out a prayer before immersion of people to an ice-hole.

To experience that weather year after year they have to be! I doubt I'd be able to; I have trouble tolerating 30-50 degree F weather much less anything like -4 to -31 degree F

I used to be part of a club that went swimming every New Year's day morning, in the ocean. Too old for that now. I'm afraid I'd catch pneumonia and die. I don't want to die.

I did a similar thing every January 1st when I was younger. Our group would water ski a 1/3 mile course. You had to ski from shore, around a bouy, & then back to shore. Upon completion, you would receive your patch which could be sewn onto your jacket.

The ski trip was tolerable if you did a shore start & kept yourself relatively dry from the waist up. If you were a nice person, the boat captain didn't cut the engine half way through your ski excursion.

The photo depicts our lake during summer time.:)
